Southern dirt: the literate archaeology of a Loblolly menagerie; or the name of the rose redux [typescript] : [2001 Oct. 8].

Essay providing updates to two of Rippeteau's previous talks to the Society, both of which involved the old Owens Field located in the Rosewood area of Columbia, S.C.: 9 Oct 1995, which lead to the inauguration of the Celebrate Freedom Air Show, and 12 Oct. 1998, which prompted creation of the Curtiss-Wright Hangar Association, a preservation organization working to restore an historic hangar on the property. Essay also discusses botanist William Bartram.
